JHHY House's 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics Project: Delivering Exceptional Performance in Extreme Conditions

In 2022, JHHY House had the honor of contributing to one of the most prestigious international events—the Beijing Winter Olympics. Our project, which involved the supply of 330 sets of high-performance container homes, played a key role in supporting the event's infrastructure at the Yanqing Alpine Skiing Area, one of the most challenging venues due to its extreme environmental conditions.

The Challenge: Harsh Mountainous Conditions

The Yanqing Alpine Skiing Area, located atop the Xiaohaituo Mountain, is known for its rugged terrain, severe cold, and high winds, making it one of the most difficult competition zones in the Winter Olympics. At its peak, the temperature can drop to as low as -30°C, with wind speeds reaching up to 12 levels. These extreme conditions posed a significant challenge for the construction of temporary housing solutions that could provide athletes and staff with comfort and protection in the face of such harsh elements.

Our Solution: Optimized Insulated and Heated Container Homes

At JHHY House, we take pride in our ability to create customized container housing solutions that meet the most demanding requirements. For the 2022 Winter Olympics, we made significant enhancements to our container home design to ensure optimal thermal insulation and heating performance.

Key features of our solution include:

lOptimized Insulation Structure: We upgraded the insulation structure of the container homes to meet the high demands of the Yanqing Alpine Skiing Area’s extreme climate. Each wall is constructed with 100mm thick rock wool panels, the highest density standard for insulation. This provides excellent thermal resistance, keeping the interior warm even during the coldest days.

lCold Bridge-Free Connections: The walls are carefully joined with no thermal bridges, which helps to maintain consistent internal temperatures and improve overall energy efficiency.

lAir Tightness and Noise Reduction: The connection points of the container homes are fitted with sealant strips, ensuring exceptional air-tightness. This not only contributes to the thermal efficiency of the homes but also reduces noise—important for maintaining a peaceful and quiet environment for athletes and staff.

lDouble-Layer Roof Insulation: The roof of each unit is equipped with double-layer insulation, enhancing the home's ability to keep heat inside and cold out, providing a warm and comfortable space even amidst the biting winds and snow.
